Jehovah's Witnesses: Distinctive Beliefs and Practices

Unique Doctrines and Interpretations

Jehovah's Witnesses hold a number of traditional Christian views, but they also have many distinctive doctrines that set them apart. One of the most fundamental differences is their belief that Jehovah, the Father of Jesus Christ, is the only true God and that Jesus is his subordinate "Son," not equal to him.

Views on God

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jehovah is the creator of the universe and the source of all life. They believe that he is a personal God who has a name, personality, and emotions. They reject the Trinity doctrine, which holds that God is three persons in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jehovah's Witnesses also believe that Jesus is the "firstborn of all creation" and that he was created by Jehovah before all other things. They believe that Jesus came to earth as a perfect man and that he died as a ransom sacrifice to redeem humanity from sin and death.
